|Literary Society( Word Visharad)|
||17th August 2012||The students were oriented with the objectives and purpose of literary society. And the events and activities that literary society is going to undertake during the year.|
|2. CreativeWriting Competition||24th August 2012
|Creative Writing competition was also organised on 24th August 2012 wherein near about 35 students participated. Students participated enthusiastically and shared their creative views on various issues. The winners were declared amongst the participants and were distributed prizes by our Head of Department Dr. Rosy Walia. She congratulated the students and appreciated their effort and encouraged them to take part further in such activities.
|3. Inter- College Debate Competition Held at Satya Sai Seva Organisation.
|22nd Sep 2012||The two students were further sent to Inter- College Debate Competition held at Satya Sai Seva organisation. Near about forty colleges participated in and outside the city in Sec-30 Chandigarh wherein our both the students bagged consolation prizes.

|4.Punjabi Sahit Sath Organised Inter Class Poetry Competition||10th October 2012||Literary society in collaboration with Punjabi Sahit Sath organised Inter Class Poetry competition on 10-10 2012. The topics were given to students on the spot.Topics were as Love and Humanity, Water, Common Man. The chief guest for the function was Principal Mrs.Manjit kaur and HOD Dr Rosy Walia Joshi was guest of Honour.Overall 25 students participated in the competition from B.COM & BBA classes. Judges for the competition were Mr. Gurpreet Singh Mann and Ms. Mona Sodhi. First second and third prize was declared after the event. Gurpreet Singh Mann (President of Punjabi Sahit Sath) in his address complemented the students for their talent and shared few tips with the budding talent how to polish their creativity to keep alive the spirit of writing in them.

|5. Youth Fest Achievements||18th Oct 2012||Our college represented itself in various items such as Creative writing, Poetry writing, Story writing, Debate, Essay writing: Wherein Sarvar Sahi bagged First position in Essay writing competition|
|6. Inter Zonal Youth Festival
|26th Oct 2012||Sarvar Sahi of BBA III was further send to Inter Zonal Youth Festival where again he bagged THIRD PRIZE IN ESSAY WRITING – INTER ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL at GDSD College Hariana( Hoshiarpur) on 26th Oct 2012|
|7. National Youth Day||12th Jan 2013||National youth day was celebrated in various colleges on 12th Jan 2012 to earmark the birth of Sw. Vivekananda. Students participated in various competitions held at various colleges and won various prizes in the competitions held at various colleges
|8. Play Competition||4th Feb 2013||Five teams participated in the play competition wherein students were asked to select their own themes, prepare their own teams, script and direct their own plays based on themes selected by them. The idea was to infuse creativity, expression, confidence and team spirit and team development in them. The three best teams were selected and was awarded and also Best performer( Male & Female) were declared as Gaurav Dhingra of B.Com II & Himani of B.Com I. The chief guests on the occasion was Mr. Parvez Kumar . The judges on the occasion were Mr. K.K Dodha, Mr. Naresh Kumar & Mr. Avtar Singh.|
|9.Second India Public Policy Quiz Competition at Sonepat at O P Jindal University||16th Feb 2013||Two team of students were sent to Quiz Competition at Sonepat alongwith teacher incharge Mr. Amandeep Verma (Ast. Prof in Economics) based on Indian Public Policy
|10. Sadbhavana Bhashan Competition & A C Bali Samarak Bhashan Competition||20th Feb 2013||A student from our college was send to participate in Debate competition wherein near about 42 teams participated.|
|11.Street Play Performance
|19th Feb 2013||Word Visharad, the Literary Society of Government college of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 42, Chandigarh in association with Panjab University performed a street play “Main Fir Vapis Awanga” at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) which was appreciated by the students with full hands. The play lampooned the prevailing political and social issues in our country. The students through their play highlighted the dire need to address these issues to bring about a positive change in the country.
