ACTIVITIES/EVENTS OF LITERARY SOCIETY 2013-14

 

23rd August2013

Talent hunt was organized in the college on 23rd August2013 wherein students participated in various literary items such as Essay writing , story writing and poetry writing competition. A small workshop cum debate session was also held wherein students were given tips on how to improvise their reading and public speaking skills. Quiz was also conducted during the event wherein in total four teams comprising of three students each participated from streams of B.Com & BBA. Winners were declared for the various events.

Orientation of literary society was held on 19th Sep 2013. A poetry recitation event was organized to mark the beginning of the event. Students were registered and were explained about the agendas and activities to be taken under the umbrella of literary society and were distributed forms for enrollment.19th Sep 2013

22nd Sep 2013

Team of students were also send to participate in Swami Vivekananda All Women  Essay Writing contest held at Rama Krishna Mission Sec 15, on 22nd Sep 2013 wherein 5 students participated. Shivani Gupta of BBA III bagged second prize and won cash prize of Rs 5000/- , books and momentos and certificates. Shivani Singla of BCOM III won consolation prize and got cash prize of Rs 1000/-

23rd Sep & 24th Sep 2013    

Trials of literary activities were also held to select the final teams for youth fest participations.

 PU YOUTH FEST ACHIEVEMENTS 2013: 7th Oct 2013

Our students also participated in PU Zonal Youth Festival on 7th Oct 2013 at GGDSD College Sec 32, Chd wherein again they brought laurels to our college by showcasing their talent in Literary items and won various prizes in various activities.

10th Oct 2013

Sw. Anupamananda also visited our college on 10th Oct 2013 and shared his views with students on “Character Building and Personality Development”. He motivated students to follow the path of righteousness and commitment. He encouraged students by sharing stories about the life of Sw. Vivekananda and inspired them to not only rise in their career but to take initiatives in the direction of their spiritual growth as well.

22nd Oct 2013

Students also participated in great number in various creative writing competitions & various entries were sent to the following departments via post :

  • 57th All India Essay writing Competition held at Mumbai organized by FORUM on the topic Environment & Economic Progress
  • Short story entries were also sent to Deputy Registrar( Colleges), PU via registered post in the competition named “Prem Chand Kahani Puruskar”
  • Essay entries were also sent to Deputy Registrar( Colleges), PU via registered post in the competition named “DR H P Dwivedi Essay Medal Competition.”

 26th October 2013

An intercollegiate competition was also held at SGGS College Sec 26 organized by IDFC foundation on 26th October 2013 wherein near about 15 colleges from the city participated. Our students represented themselves at IDFC quiz & Debate Competition and cleared preliminary round where the topic of their debate was “Is development possible without destroying environment?” and further they went for the final round  wherein they bagged First prize in Debate Competition competing with team of students from all the city colleges.

Gagandeep Singh & Pragati Khanna of B.Com I won first prize. The topic of the debate of final round was “Does a campaign like Earth hour help the environment?”

A team of students were also send to Inter College Literary Fest 2013 held at GGDSD College on 22nd Nov 2013 wherein our students participated in numerous activities such as :

Poster /Collage Making- Bagged Third Position.

27th November 2013

An initiative to start Wall magazine was also inaugurated on 27th November 2013 by students of literary Society wherein students contributed many articles, pieces of art, sketches poetry slogans etc. Principal Mrs Manjit Kaur & HOD Dr Rosy Walia along with other faculty members appreciated the work of students & their innovative effort. Also they declared two students as creative persons of the month namely Amarinder & Monika of BCOM I.
